Click the above link for information about PAVE’s Back to School Not Back to JUUL campaign urging FDA to deny menthol JUUL and all other flavored e-cigarette applications (PMTAs) that were filed by September, 2020 and, under federal court order, must be answered on or before September 9, 2021.
FDA has allowed millions of flavored e-cigarettes and other non-combustible tobacco products, including menthol JUUL, to remain on the market without full regulation since 2016. Along with our public-health partners, we believe that, in doing so, FDA has acted counter to its stated mission of protecting public health.
As the national parent voice representing the millions of families whose lives have been upended by the ongoing youth vaping epidemic (3.6 million young people are currently vaping, the majority of them using flavored products), we demand that the agency do what it should have done long ago: protect our kids from the dangers of flavored e-cigarettes.
We also believe FDA must be accountable for the harm its repeated inaction and lack of regulatory enforcement have caused to a generation of young people who would otherwise not have been initiated into tobacco use.
It is likely that FDA will request more time to complete this long-delayed process.
But we have waited long enough.
